Updated Wednesday, October 21, 2026 (late update). A second sweep in Spanish, English and French found new options for three (a Seaman Journey West week, a Tip Top IV sailing that does West + Genovesa, cheaper Genovesa pieces) and corrected the Monserrat trio structure. Golden confirmed the Petrel is fully booked for December; Tip Top Travel confirmed the Western waitlist in writing. Amanda has been asked about the Cachalote West week for three. The Eden is booked (2826484); its payment link is still missing.
The window now:For two: Sunday, December 20, 2026 to Monday, January 4, 2027. Mom's window opens Mon Dec 14 (her first vacation day, flying from Toronto). The booked Eden anchors Dec 28 – Jan 4. Two live ways to fill the earlier days: the Tip Top II week with Mom (Dec 18–25, offer in hand) or the Eden's northern sailing for two (Dec 19–25).
Flights, real fares (searched Oct 20–21):Bogotá–Quito round trip $662 for two (LATAM nonstop, Dec 20 out / Jan 4 back). Mom's Toronto–Quito return runs about $850–950 in December (Avianca via Bogotá out on Dec 14; the Air Canada nonstop home on Sun Dec 27). Island flights are included in both the Eden fare and the Tip Top II offer. Resident-fare trap: all three must book the foreigner fare class (about a $150 pp penalty at the airport otherwise).
Deadlines this week:Fri Oct 23: the Monserrat C+D hold (Cabin #2) expires AND Enchanted's refundable-minus-$250 window closes · Jennifer also owes the trio answer (Mom in the designated single cabin at no supplement) before that hold lapses · the Eden's $700 deposit is unpaid, and G Adventures' payment link and written confirmation still have not arrived · the Tip Top II cabins 1 and 2 are offered but NOT held, and the confirmation WhatsApp is still unsent · Amanda's reply on the Cachalote Cabin 1 for three is awaited · the Monserrat A+B waitlist resolves around Oct 29.
The board today
Booked
1 · Eden, West & Central — G Adventures · BOOKED
Dec 28 – Jan 4 · $4,619 pp · $9,238 for two · booking 2826484 · West + Central
The anchor is booked: one private cabin for Carlos + Maheva, island flights and Quito hotels included. The $700 deposit ($350 pp) is NOT yet paid — G Adventures' payment link and written confirmation still have not arrived (promised for Oct 21). Balance $8,538; bed type and deck still unconfirmed.
Offered
2 · Tip Top II — THE FAMILY OFFER (three people)
Dec 18–25 · $4,257 pp incl. flights · $12,771 for three · Genovesa + South + Central, no West
Offered by Galapagos Natural Life on Oct 21 (WhatsApp): main-deck cabins 1 and 2, the ship's two single cabins, each with one 2.00 × 1.40 m bed and its own bathroom. Mom takes one solo; Carlos + Maheva share the other as a matrimonial. No bunks anywhere on this boat, and the dining room is on the same deck. The operator's own board (Rolf Wittmer) publishes the same sailing at the same $4,257 for cabins 1–2 (upper king cabins $5,027 pp). Four confirmation questions are drafted (see Drafts): the cabin setup in writing, the final price with NO single supplement for Mom, deposit and cancellation terms, and how long they will hold the cabins. Nothing is held yet. Mom flies Toronto to Quito on Dec 14 and home on the Dec 27 Air Canada nonstop. Re-checked live on the operator's board on Oct 21 (afternoon): still bookable, 16 spaces, same prices — the “sold out” flag on a reseller platform is a mirror of the same inventory and is outweighed by the operator's own board. The open questions remain the solo rate for Mom and the hold.
Cabin available
3 · Eden, North & Central — the couple's Genovesa chain piece
Dec 19–25 · $3,009 pp · $6,018 for two · Genovesa + Central (Bartolomé)
Same ship, a week earlier: a full Genovesa day, plus Bartolomé, Black Turtle Cove and the Darwin Station. On Oct 21, G Adventures (agent Andrew K) confirmed a private cabin for two is currently available at $3,009 pp. No reservation created yet — the decision is Carlos's. A third person could will-share a twin at the same price, or take a solo cabin at +70–80%.
Offered
4 · Monserrat C+D — cabin on hold until Fri Oct 23
Dec 21–27 · $5,200 pp via Happy Gringo · $5,661.11 pp + $180 fuel operator rack · South + Central + Genovesa, no West
Jennifer answered in full on Oct 21: Cabin #2 is 3.40 × 2.02 m with a 2.02 × 1.03 m bathroom (about 9 m² in total), porthole only, NOT by the engine but by the anchor chain (noise when anchoring and disembarking). The balance after the 20% deposit must be received by end of October. The operator's own policy PDF makes Friday's decision decisive: the deposit is non-refundable, cancelling 59–0 days out forfeits the FULL payment, and the 60-day line is Thu Oct 22 — so confirming on Friday is effectively committing about $12,900 for two. Jonathan's answer on whether his $5,200 is final is still outstanding; the two channels stay independent. TRIO UPDATE (Oct 21 sweep): if Mom joins C+D, the working structure is the couple in Cabin #2 plus Mom in the ship's designated single cabin, published at the same rate with no supplement — but one source conditions that on the two triple cabins being sold, so Jennifer must confirm in writing before Friday. In that scenario the trio totals about $19,983 all-in. A question is drafted (see Drafts).
Waitlist
5 · Cachalote Explorer — Mom's WEST week (Cabin 1) + the waitlist
Dec 16–23 Cabin 1: $5,400 pp · $16,200 for three, cruise only · Dec 23–30: waitlist, cabin 7 $5,500 pp
Two threads. (1) MOM'S WEST ALTERNATIVE: the Dec 16–23 Fernandina week — Cabin 1 is the only floor-level triple found in a 10-agent sweep (a lower queen for the couple plus a lower single for Mom, upper deck, real window). Spaces unverified, one source conflict swaps Cabins 1 and 2, and the sailing is already inside Enchanted's 60-day full-penalty zone, so booking means committing. The ask was SENT to Amanda on Oct 21 and her reply is awaited. Enchanted's own PDF also lists a $250 net per-person Christmas surcharge; whether it sits inside the $5,400 pp is still to pin. (2) THE WAITLIST: the Dec 23–30 Tower (Genovesa) week, cabin 7 first then cabin 8; its refundable-minus-$250 exit closes Fri Oct 23.
Offered
6 · Coral I/II — offered by Adventure Life (for two)
5-day Southeast Dec 23–27 · $3,536 pp · 8-day Eastern Dec 20–27 · $5,639 pp · flights NOT included
Jeff's Oct 21 fallback offers, after the Danubio Azul and both Aida Maria sailings came back with no availability. Add about $590 pp for island flights to either price. The 8-day Eastern overlaps the Tip Top II week and lands at about $6,230 pp all-in for two only, so it does not beat the offer in hand; a complimentary hold was offered. GO Galapagos, the operator, still has not answered the direct Coral inquiry sent Oct 21.
On request
8 · Seaman Journey — the WEST for three (new find)
Cruise Dec 18–24 · Itinerary C: Fernandina + western Isabela · $13,061–17,188 for 3, cruise only · flights +$580 pp
Found in the Oct 21 sweep on Natural Life's own booking page: the strongest West week that fits Mom's dates, ending Dec 24, before the Eden. Sleeping works: the couple in a suite (fixed queen), Mom solo in a standard cabin, every bed a lower berth. The price for three depends entirely on the single-supplement tier: $13,061 with none, $16,156 at the published 75%, $17,188 at the 100% Christmas tier. No spaces count is published, and Natural Life's homepage board shows no Seaman sailings after Dec 4 — an inconsistency to raise. A draft question is ready (see Drafts).
Listed
9 · Tip Top IV — West + Genovesa in one week (for three)
Cruise Dec 18–25 · Western Islands route · $19,294 for 3 at published single rates, flights included
The best single-week route match in the whole search: Genovesa on Saturday, then the full West (Vicente Roca, the Fernandina side, Tagus Cove, Elizabeth Bay, Urbina, Moreno). Happy Gringo's 2026 card publishes explicit single rates: the couple at 2 × $5,600 lower deck + Mom solo at $8,094 = $19,294, flights included; a 20% Christmas surcharge may sit on top (about $23,153). Catch: listing-grade only — no spaces count, and the operator's own board does not show this sailing, so availability is unproven until an operator confirms.
Listed
10 · Two cheaper Genovesa pieces for three — Letty and EcoGalaxy
Letty Dec 18–22 · $2,417 pp incl. flights · EcoGalaxy Dec 15–19 · $5,152 pp incl. flights
LETTY (Itinerary D): $7,251 for three IF Mom's solo cabin prices at the same flat rate — no source publishes a Letty single supplement, so that is the ask; its designated triples have a bunk and are invalid for Mom, so the structure is two cabins. ECOGALAXY (Itinerary A): a genuine floor-level triple (double bed + sofa bed) at $15,456 for three including Avianca flights, from a Spanish channel — but the page states the rate is for the Ecuadorian market only, so a foreigner quote is required; Dec 15 is also a tight connection for Mom, and a sofa bed's comfort for a 65-year-old is a fair question.
Offered
11 · Elite (Golden Galapagos) — the Petrel pivot, for three
Dec 15–19 · Itinerary D (Genovesa) · $6,190 pp · $18,570 for 3 if the single cabin carries no supplement
Golden's reply (see Replies) pivoted from the fully booked Petrel to the Elite. The dates reconcile to Tue Dec 15 – Sat Dec 19 (5 days, 4 nights): Golden's own 4-night rate is exactly the $6,190 pp seen on its trade channel. The trio structure: the couple in a Golden Suite + Mom in the ship's dedicated single cabin, which a Golden-channel seller describes as sold without supplement for odd-numbered groups — if that holds, $18,570 cruise-only for three; if Mom is priced as a suite single, $24,760. Dec 15 is a tight connection for Mom. A reply to Daniela is drafted (see Drafts).
Inquiry sent
7 · Seaman Journey — Genovesa chain piece
Cruise Dec 24–28 · $3,692 pp main deck · Genovesa + Central
Ends the morning the booked Eden starts. Inquiry sent to Happy Gringo's Jonathan on Oct 20 (availability, cabin numbers, hold terms); awaiting his reply. No west. Caveat: Natural Life's board shows no Seaman departures after Dec 4, so this sailing currently rests on Adventure Life's data alone.
Always open
8 · Land-based — the budget family fallback
Any dates · about $7,300–7,750 on-island for three · Mom's week adds about $3,100–3,600
If no trio cruise is confirmed: all three base in Puerto Ayora (triple rooms from $130/night, or a double plus a single for $170/night), with day tours to Bartolomé (about $230–280 pp), North Seymour and Santa Fe, plus Punta Pitt from San Cristóbal for the red-footed boobies. Mom's park fee is $100 (the Colombian-citizenship rate, verified). Genovesa island itself and the whole West stay unreachable from land.
Closed
9 · CLOSED — killed by Mom's Dec 14 start
Nemo III · Endemic · Letty · Reina Silvia Voyager · Yolita Dec 12 · Calipso
Mom's first vacation day is Mon Dec 14, flying from Toronto, so every sailing departing Dec 13 or earlier is out for the trio — including the two best West + Genovesa options: Nemo III Dec 13–20 ($4,255 pp incl. flights, but its triple puts Mom in the upper bunk) and Endemic Dec 13–20 ($9,990 pp, $29,970 for three). The Letty boards in the islands on Dec 14, unreachable from a same-day Toronto departure.
Closed
10 · CLOSED — the does-all cruises (too expensive for three)
Samba 15-day from $10,000 pp · Cachalote 15-day about $32,400 for three · Grand Daphne 17-day $14,440 pp
Checked and closed on Oct 21: the 15 to 17-day circumnavigations are the only single sailings covering all four regions, at about $30,000+ for three before flights. The Samba's own Tropicbird week (Dec 22–29) also derives as the Southeast rotation — no West, no Genovesa — and CNH still has not confirmed the route in writing. Petrel (Dec 21) is closed too: an operator-fed retailer states the ship is fully chartered for all of 2026.
No availability per Adventure Life (Oct 21) · A+B waitlist-only at $6,772–7,439 pp + fuel
Jeff confirmed no space on the Danubio Azul (Dec 22) or either Aida Maria sailing (Northern Dec 20, Western Dec 27); the Aida's standard cabins are bunks in any case. Monserrat A+B (Dec 27 – Jan 4) remains waitlist-only, at prices that lost to the booked Eden.
Premium shelf, for completeness (all roughly $22k+ for two): Celebrity Flora Outer Loop, Dec 27 – Jan 3, full west, from £8,526 pp · Ecoventura Itinerary B, Dec 20–27, the only premium sailing covering West + Genovesa, $10,950 pp (triple $10,750), December availability not publicly verifiable · Lindblad Endeavour II, Dec 25 – Jan 3, from $12,052 pp.

The Monserrat Dec 24–31 "has sold out" (checked with the operator). Alternative offered: Monserrat Dec 21–27 (Itinerary C+D) at $5,200 per person — his price off the $5,661 rack — with only one cabin left, lower deck, number not stated. Island flights must be booked through the operator at $600 pp. He offered to ask the operator for a hold.
Tip Top Travel — Sandra Revelo · Tue Oct 20, 7:32 AM
Tip Top II's Western sailing Dec 25 – Jan 1 is full (Christmas departures book one to two years ahead). Alternatives offered are all Jan 1–8, 2027 — outside even the cushioned window. A waitlist request for any Western cabin Dec 22 – Jan 2 was sent back the same day.
Via Natura — Diego Andrade · Tue Oct 20, 10:31 AM
A warm handoff with no substantive answers: concierge Jennifer Hidalgo (WhatsApp +593 992 151 020) now owns the file. The Monserrat questions — Dec 24–31 availability and cabin, the Dec 27–31 western segment, hold and deposit terms — remain open. A full reply was sent to Diego and Jennifer the same day.
Enchanted Expeditions — Amanda Purtschert · Tue Oct 20
Beluga is fully booked for Dec 23–30. On Cachalote Explorer, the last two cabins are on hold for another client; the waitlist is open. Cabin 7 at $5,500 pp, cabin 8 (the smallest) at $4,840 pp. Flights mandatory through them at $590 pp, park fee $200, transit card $20, fuel surcharge $100 pp. Terms: 20% deposit, balance 60 days out, refundable minus $250 until 61 days before departure — October 23 for this sailing. Her email dates the sailing Dec 23–30; the rotation grid said Dec 22–29. One of them is wrong, and it will be pinned in writing.
Via Natura — Jennifer Hidalgo · Tue Oct 20, 1:58 PM
The operator's concierge answered in full. (1) Monserrat C+D, Dec 21–27: Lower Deck Matrimonial Cabin #2 is ON HOLD for us until Oct 23, at $5,661.11 pp rack, plus a $180 pp fuel surcharge and $600 pp flights; 20% deposit secures it, and Genovesa is confirmed on the itinerary. (2) Monserrat A+B, Dec 27 – Jan 4, is real, with both remaining cabins waitlisted until Oct 29 (upper $7,438.89 pp; lower, Cabin #2 again, $6,772.22 pp; plus $240 pp fuel). (3) The shorter sailings inside our dates are unavailable — at Christmas the Monserrat runs only as these two extended departures. Her direct line: +593 99 215 1020.
Adventure Life — Jeff Rottschafer · Tue Oct 20 + Wed Oct 21 update
A call-first sales reply with no answers yet: he offers to check availability with their partners, asks for the full date range and per-person budget, offers to price-match operator discounts, and states Adventure Life would require payment in full to book any of these ships inside 70 days — worse terms than the 20% deposits elsewhere. A consolidated email reply (dates, budget band, Danubio + both Aida Maria sailings, the bunk-bed question) was sent on Oct 20. UPDATE (Oct 21): Jeff answered — NO availability on the Danubio Azul (Dec 22) or either Aida Maria sailing (Northern Dec 20, Western Dec 27); his Ecuador partner asked for a waitlist spot on an unspecified Monserrat departure. He offered two Coral I/II departures instead: a 5-day Southeast, Dec 23–27, at $3,536 pp, and an 8-day Eastern, Dec 20–27, at $5,639 pp, both excluding flights (about $590 pp), and pushed a complimentary hold.
G Adventures — Ludwe F (chat) · Tue Oct 20 + Andrew K · Wed Oct 21
The Yolita Dec 26 sailing is closed for a couple: only two split shared berths remain (one male Upper Twin, one female Main Twin), the private cabins are sold out, and there is no waitlist — no deposit was ever paid. In the same chat the Eden (West & Central, Dec 28 – Jan 4) was booked: booking 2826484, one private cabin, $4,619 pp, deposit $350 pp; the payment link is still pending. On Oct 21, agent Andrew K confirmed the Eden's North & Central sailing (Dec 19–25) currently has a private cabin for two available at $3,009 pp; no reservation created yet.
Galapagos Natural Life — WhatsApp · Tue Oct 20 late + Wed Oct 21
Three answers landed on Oct 21. (1) Nemo III (Dec 13–20) is confirmed at $4,255 pp including flights — the board's $3,675 excluded the $580 air ticket — itinerary A (West + Genovesa), space for 2 in a couple's cabin; deposit and cancellation terms still open. (2) The Letty (Dec 14–22) is itinerary B at $4,069 pp in the upper deck including flights (8 upper-deck spaces; the $3,919 lower deck has 1 space left) — and its route is Genovesa + South + Central, with no west at all: the board's West + Genovesa tag was wrong. (3) They also offered the Aida Maria's 8-day itinerary B (the west route, no Genovesa): Dec 13–20 at $3,031/$3,131 pp and Dec 20–27 at $3,687/$3,787 pp, flights included — though both weeks are labeled B even though the boat normally alternates A/B, so the second week's route needs pinning in writing. All three finds are early starts (Dec 13–14) or, for the Aida's second week, a duplicate of the booked west — they sit in the third-person (mom) branch, not among the two-person options.
Galapagos Natural Life — WhatsApp · Wed Oct 21, 10:34 AM — THE TIP TOP II OFFER
The trio answer: the closest departure for three is the Tip Top II, Dec 18–25 (Itinerary Option 2, East): Genovesa all day on Dec 19, then South Plaza and Santa Fe, the Santa Cruz highlands, Floreana, Española, and San Cristóbal with Kicker Rock. The offer: $4,257 per person including Galápagos flights, main-deck cabins 1 and 2 — $12,771 for three. The operator's own board publishes the same sailing at the same price for those cabins (upper king cabins $5,027 pp). A confirmation draft with four questions is ready in Drafts below: the cabin setup in writing, the final price with no single supplement for Mom, deposit and cancellation terms, and how long they will hold the cabins.
Via Natura — Jennifer Hidalgo · Wed Oct 21, 8:27 AM — Cabin #2 in full
The follow-up, answered in full: Cabin #2 is 3.40 × 2.02 m with a 2.02 × 1.03 m bathroom (about 9 m² total), porthole only. It is NOT near the engine; it sits by the anchor chain, so expect noise when anchoring and disembarking. The balance after the 20% deposit must be received by end of October. The A+B waitlist works by her notifying us by email or phone, with a maximum of 5 days to decide. What she did not spell out, the operator's own policy PDF does: the 20% deposit is non-refundable, and cancelling 59–0 days before departure forfeits the full payment — for the Dec 21 sailing that line is Thu Oct 22.
Golden Galapagos — Daniela Torres · Wed Oct 21, 2:06 PM — Petrel is fully booked
The operator itself closes the Petrel thread: fully booked for December 2026. Her pivot: the M/C Elite, departing Dec 14 and returning Dec 19, described as a 4-night cruise (Itinerary D attached). No price — she first asks whether Carlos travels for himself or is an agent. Reconciliation from the sweep: Golden's own rate card makes Itinerary D a Tue Dec 15 – Sat Dec 19 sailing (5 days, 4 nights) at $6,190 pp; Dec 14 is a Monday and no Elite D sails Mondays, so her date is almost certainly off by one. For three (the couple in a suite + Mom in the dedicated single cabin) it prices at $18,570 IF that single cabin is truly sold without supplement — a reply is drafted (see Drafts).
Tip Top Travel — Sandra Revelo · Wed Oct 21, 2:10 PM — Western waitlist confirmed
Short and clean: Sandra confirms in writing that she will notify us if any Western-route cabin opens Dec 22 – Jan 2 on the Tip Top II or the Tip Top IV. No space today; nothing further is needed on this thread unless a cabin releases.

G Adventures still owes the Eden payment link and written confirmation. Open decisions: send the Tip Top II confirmation questions; decide the Monserrat C+D hold by Fri Oct 23 (confirming then is effectively full commitment — see the board); whether to ask Amanda about Cachalote's Dec 16–23. Discipline note unchanged: Jonathan's $5,200 has not been disclosed to Via Natura, nor Via Natura's position to Happy Gringo.

Hola Jennifer, soy Carlos Riveros. Muchas gracias.
Foreigner quote for the Monserrat 8-night Dec 27 – Jan 4 (and the 6-night Dec 21–27 as a fallback).

Gracias.
SUPERSEDED — the Dec 25 rotation question was settled by inference (the East/Genovesa rotation) and the trio plan moved to the Tip Top II offer; kept as a record.

Hola, soy Carlos Riveros.

Gracias.

Hola, soy Carlos Riveros. Muchas gracias.

Hola, soy Carlos Riveros. Muchas gracias.

Dear Daniela,
Thank you. I am traveling for myself, not as an agent: the passengers would be me, my partner, and my mother.
The Petrel being fully booked settles that question. On the Elite: your own rate card shows Itinerary D as a 4-night sailing, Tuesday to Saturday, which for that week is December 15-19 (December 14 is a Monday). Could you confirm the exact dates?
If the dates work, we would be 3 passengers: my partner and me in a Golden Suite, and my mother in the dedicated single cabin. Two questions:
1. Is the single cabin sold without a supplement for a group of three?
2. What is the total price for the three of us, what does it include (are the Galapagos flights included?), and what are the deposit and cancellation terms?
Thank you,
Carlos Riveros

Dear Jennifer,
One more scenario for the C+D sailing, please. My mother (65) may join us, which would make us 3 passengers: my partner and me in Cabin #2 (already on hold), and my mother in the Monserrat's designated single cabin on the lower deck.
Could you confirm, before the hold lapses on Friday:
1. Is the single cabin available on the Dec 21 sailing, and can it be held together with Cabin #2?
2. Is the single cabin sold at the same per-person rate, with no single supplement? One source I read conditions that on the ship's two triple cabins being sold, so I need your answer in writing.
3. Is the $180 fuel surcharge inside the price you quoted me, or on top of it?
Thank you,
Carlos Riveros

Subject: Yolita SEV10YA, Dec 26, 2026: starting the space request for 2
Hello, I chatted with your agent Ed about the Yolita departure of December 26, 2026, which is on request (Main Deck Twin at $5,249 per person with the 25% promotion, code G27SDQ025DES03).
An update on my side: I can now take the full tour ending in Quito on January 4, so no itinerary change is needed. Please tell me exactly how to start the space request for 2 passengers: what deposit is due now, what happens if the space cannot be confirmed, and when the balance would be due. An answer by email is fine.
Thank you,

Hello, I am asking about the Calipso's naturalist (non-diving) departures between December 22, 2026 and January 2, 2027, for 2 passengers. Does the ship sail a naturalist itinerary in that window, and on which dates? What is the price per person, which cabins are available, and what do the "Christmas special conditions" in your rates mean? What are the deposit and cancellation terms? Thank you, Carlos Riveros

Dear Amanda,
Thank you for the quick and detailed reply. Yes, please put us on the waiting list for the Cachalote Explorer, in order of preference: cabin 7 first, then cabin 8.
Three things I need to understand:
1. Your email dates the sailing December 23 to 30, while the rotation I had found said December 22 to 29. Which dates are correct?
2. The cabins are on hold for another client: when does their hold expire, and if they release, how long would we have to decide and pay the deposit?
3. If we confirm after October 23 (past the 61-day refundable point), what cancellation terms would apply to our booking?
For the record, we are 2 passengers, and either cabin works if the other is taken.
Thank you,
Carlos Riveros

Subject: Follow-up: Monserrat Christmas, plus your Active Galapagos "Tropicbird" Dec 20-31?
Hello, I wrote on Monday about the Monserrat for Christmas and wanted to follow up, as I am deciding this week.
I also found on your site your Active Galapagos "Tropicbird" departure, December 20 to 31, showing 2 spaces left. That interests me as well. Could you tell me:
1. Which ship sails that departure, and which itinerary/route does the cruise follow? (We are particularly hoping to see Genovesa and the western islands, Fernandina and western Isabela.)
2. Are the 2 spaces still available for 2 passengers travelling together?
3. What is the total per person for the Leisure package ($6,718 as published), and what exactly does it include beyond the cruise: flights, hotels, park fee, transit card?
4. What deposit is needed to confirm, and what are the cancellation terms?
And on my original question: for the Monserrat itself over Christmas, do you sell only your own 11-day departures, or could you also book the standard Dec 21-27 or Dec 24-31 sailings?
Thank you,
Carlos Riveros

Subject: Aida Maria: Northern Dec 20-24 and Western Dec 27-Jan 3, 2026 - prices and availability for 2?
Hello, in addition to my Danubio Azul question, your site lists two Aida Maria departures I am interested in for 2 passengers:
1. The 5-day Northern Islands cruise departing Sunday, December 20, 2026 (from $2,250 per person), which includes Genovesa.
2. The 8-day Western Islands cruise departing Sunday, December 27, 2026 (listed at $3,562 per person).
For each: is the departure confirmed available for 2, what is the exact price per person for that date, and which cabin type is it? I read the standard cabins have bunk beds: are there double-bed cabins, and at what price?
Also, what is included and excluded (flights to Galapagos, park fee, transit card), what deposit is needed, and what are the cancellation terms?
Thank you,
Carlos Riveros

Subject: Re: Monserrat Christmas options
Dear Jennifer,
Thank you, this is very clear and helpful. A few follow-ups:
On Option 1 (Dec 21-27, C+D): I understand the cabin on hold is Lower Deck Matrimonial Cabin #2. Could you tell me a little more about that cabin: its size, whether it has a window or only portholes, and its position relative to the engine? Passenger reviews mention the lower deck can be noisy, so I would like to know what to expect. Also: with the 20% deposit, when is the balance due, and what are the cancellation terms? And is the fuel surcharge already included in any of these figures, or always additional?
On Option 2 (Dec 27 - Jan 4, A+B): please keep me on the waitlist for both cabins, with a preference for the upper deck one. If a cabin releases after October 29, how will you notify me and how long would I have to decide?
One last clarification: you mentioned the shorter sailings are unavailable in this period. Does that mean the Monserrat cannot be booked for a shorter segment (for example Dec 27-31) at all over Christmas, even through an agency?
Thank you again,
Carlos Riveros

Subject: Re: Galapagos Christmas - dates, budget, and three ships to check
Hi Jeff,
Email works best for me, since I am comparing written quotes this week.
Dates: we are flexible from December 20, 2026 to January 4, 2027, 2 passengers. Budget: the options we are actively comparing run from about $2,250 to $5,500 per person for the cruise itself, so anything in that band is in play depending on the ship and itinerary.
The ships I need checked, in order:
1. Danubio Azul, 8-day departing December 22 (your listing, from $4,280 per person): is that a naturalist week or a diving week? Is it available for 2, and what is the exact per-person price for that date?
2. Aida Maria, Northern 5-day departing Sunday, December 20 (from $2,250 per person, includes Genovesa): availability for 2 and the exact price for that date?
3. Aida Maria, Western 8-day departing Sunday, December 27 (listed at $3,562 per person): availability for 2 and the exact price for that date?
For the Aida Maria: your cabin description mentions bunk beds in the standard cabins. Are there double-bed cabins, and at what price?
On the Monserrat December 24-31 question from my first email: no need to chase it, the operator has confirmed to us directly that sailing is not running.
For anything available: what exactly is included and excluded (Galapagos flights, park fee, transit card, fuel surcharges, wetsuits), and what are the cancellation terms? I noted your point about full payment inside 70 days.
Other options we are comparing, in case you can price-match: the Yolita with G Adventures (Dec 26, on request at $5,249 per person), the Monserrat Dec 21-27 via the operator, and the Seaman Journey Dec 24-28.
Thank you,
Carlos Riveros
Ruled out
Closed — and why
Monserrat 8-day, Dec 24–31 (the original Finalist A) — sold out per the operator, via Happy Gringo; it never appeared in either availability system.
Tip Top II Western, Dec 25 – Jan 1 — full, per the operator.
Beluga, Dec 23–30 — fully booked, per the operator.
Mary Anne — not currently sailing (refit / operator review, per Galapatours' French and German pages).
Estrella del Mar (G Adventures) — no departure dates for the rest of the season, per G's own site.
Camila / Galapagos Horizon — no bookable Christmas rotation in any feed.
Silver Origin — the Dec 26 western sailing is waitlist-only on Silversea's own site; the Dec 19 eastern sailing's availability conflicts between sources (and it starts a day before the window).
Coral I & II / Legend combinations — exist only as aggregator listings; the operator's own booking engine shows no such sailings.
Galaxy Orion, Dec 26 — not corroborated in the operator-side availability engine, and weakened by passenger reports.
Yolita, Dec 26 (G Adventures) — closed for a couple on Oct 20: only two split shared berths remain (one male, one female), private cabins sold out, no waitlist. Replaced by the booked Eden.
The Hybrid's Monserrat 5-day western segment — the operator states shorter Christmas sailings are not sold separately; the plan is demoted unless a reseller confirms a segment in writing.
Xavier III (G Adventures) — the whole product family has no departures for the rest of the season, per G's own pages.
Nemo III (Dec 13–20) and Endemic (Dec 13–20) — the two best West + Genovesa trio options, closed for the trio by Mom's Dec 14 vacation start (she flies from Toronto that day).
The does-all circumnavigations (Samba 15-day, Cachalote 15-day, Grand Daphne 17-day, Ecoventura A+B) — closed Oct 21 on price for three (about $30,000+ before flights).
Petrel, December — CLOSED by the operator itself: Golden Galapagos confirmed on Oct 21 that the ship is fully booked for December 2026. Their pivot is the Elite (see the board).
Aida Maria (both sailings) and Danubio Azul — no availability, per Adventure Life on Oct 21; the Aida's standard cabins are bunks in any case.
Calipso, naturalist sailings — none exists after Dec 15: both late-December weeks (Dec 17–24 and Dec 24–31) are dive departures; the only December naturalist rotation is Dec 10–17, too early for Mom.
